Tips On College interviews

In class we had a very special guest visit us today. A very nice lady from Berkeley College. I thought that the information she gave us will help me a lot in the future when I go talk with college principals and baseball coaches. My classmates and I were taught how to dress, how to speak, how to act, and what to do to show that you are very professional and you are eligibale to join the college you dream of going to. When we attend a college interview be sure to dress professional. Where nice slacks, a dress shirt, a nice tie, dress shoes, no jeans, and make sure your hair is nice and neat. After the interview it was said that it is a good idea to send a thank you letter. Sending it by email is not as much of a good idea then sending it by mail. Letting the interviewer know how much you enjoyed speaking with them and thanking them for taking some of their time to sit down and talk with you. I feel like I will appreciate these college interview tips in the future and if Im right maybe I will but all I know is that I am happy that I was informed about this and I thank Berkely College.

Internet Search Tools

I went over the study sheets that Ms. Sarles gave me and it gave me information on Internet Search Tools and this is what I read about it to help me for the final.
  • The World Wide Web is enormous.
  • People created search tools to navigate it.
  • The search query tells the search tool what you are looking for.
  • There are 4 kinds of search tools:
    • Search Engines
      • Crawls the web using spiders
    • Metasearch Engines
      • Search multiple search engines at once
    • Subject Guides/Web Directores
      • Offer a hierarchically organized directory to help you find relevant search results
    • Specialty Search Tools/Databases
      • Search the deep/hidden web.

How is the information you learned applicable to your other class assignments? How is this class helping you with research in your other classes?

During the mid part of December, Ms. Sarles gave my classmates and I an assignment about researching problems in the world and what people can try and do to either solve it or make it less harmful to people. I went to http://www.google.com/ and searched police brutality. I knew searching this topic would relate perfect to one of my project assignments that me, Ricky Vega, Kris Lopez, Adrian Nieves, Justin Guevarex and Phillpe Renoird are suppose to be filiming and handing it in by January 18th. Our project is to make a movie trailer about police brutality in Japan and how it is affecting the world. As I was searching police brutality on google, In my head I was saying to myslef that in the future this information can help me out with my government class project. Like I predicted, it did. If it wasnt for this assignment I would have not known what I was talking about or what I was doing when I was filming this project. This assignment related to my government class project perfectly and it helped out a lot.

What I Like To Learn More About This Material

This marking period my teacher Ms. Sarles taught my classmates and I how to use Boolean Operators. I thought the whole topic itself was very interesting as Ms. Sarles taught us in the library, although I feel like I have not yet gotten all the information I need. I've tried about four or five times to do a Boolean Operater and I still get stuck at one part because I forget what to do. I looked up on it and I recieved a good amount of information to help me try to make a Boolean Operator. It was said that search engines insert Boolean Operators into multiple word searches whether you put it or not. Certain search engines have certain Boolean Operators. For example, Google uses AND. Being aware of an engines default operator is important to make a good search strategy for the search engine you are using. I thought this was a good relevant piece of information and I will make another attempt at doing a Boolean Operator and if I am lucky my assignment will come out successful.

English Final & This Marking Period

How I felt about Tuesday's english final was I thought it was pretty long but I felt I knew all the stuff that I had gone over with my teacher Ms.Sarles in the beginning of the marking period and the school year. Unfortunately I do not feel confidant about the final because during the end of this last marking period I ended up missing a couple of days because I became sick but I know that is no excuse. Before this marking period ends I am going to try to make up every single homework or classwork that I had missed while I was out and hand it in as soon as possible because this years english class I think has been the easiest english class and I would feel very foolish if I failed this class because of my absents. Fortunately I did quite well the last two marking periods so hopefully that can help me out this marking period but I still feel like I missed too many days and next semester I can promise myself and Ms. Sarles that I will be there every single day. Thanks for a wonderful semester of english Ms. Sarles I hope we can have a better one next semester!
